Gift wrapping

Rolled, coiled and tucked

Every kite we ship travels rolled in reed paper with the string coiled flat and a hand-drawn wind rose tucked in the folds. Gifting costs nothing extra; it is simply how a kite should travel.

The roll

Kites are rolled, never folded, around a split cane. A rolled kite pops open in the first breeze; a folded one carries a memory of the crease forever.

The card

Hand-drawn wind rose on card stock, blank inside, or carrying a line of your choosing written by whoever on the floor has the best hand that day.

The Pilot's box

Train sets and gifts ship in a pine box with sliding lid, made in the workshop from roof-slat offcuts. The box outlives the kite; several customers use them as jewellery boxes, which we consider fair.

For the person who has everything

A flying lesson on the point. One hour with a sergeant of the sewing floor, any weather short of a gale, ending with tea and the logbook entry. $85, voucher valid a year, and nobody has ever asked for the receipt.
